The Business Registration and Licensing Agency (“BRELA”) has announced by way of a public notice that from 1 November 2018 it shall not approve any applications by agents acting on behalf of individuals or partners for business names; or for shareholders in companies for either online registration for existing business names and/or companies or new registrations on the online registration system (“ORS”).

The reason being that BRELA management has observed that agents instructed to act on behalf of applicants are withholding login details on the ORS account(s) created on behalf of the applicants thereby restricting access of the applicants to such accounts. The notice states that from 1 November 2018 BRELA will not approve any application which does not include information of individuals or listed partners for business names; and shareholders in companies as persons who can update data on the ORS account.

We have been informed that BRELA is no longer accepting applications where an individual or partners for business names; and directors, the company secretary and/or shareholders in companies are not given access to the ORS account(s) created on behalf of such sole proprietorship, partnership, or company.
